Benjamin Douglass
Benjamin C. Douglass was the great grandfather of Russell Douglas and the first to farm the Douglas(s) land. He joined the Connecticut 26th Volunteer Infantry, Company D in November, 1862. His Connecticut regiment, along with the 4th Wisconsin Infantry and regiments from other states, took part in the Siege of Port Hudson, May 23 - July 9, 1863. He settled in La Valle after mustering out of service on August 17, 1863. This is his story.
