As part of the Douglas Legacy Farm’s effort to serve soldiers and veterans, this year we are focused on the Minnesota 34th Infantry Division, currently deployed to the Middle East. Wisconsin does not have any major deployments this year, so we turn west to serve brave soldiers from Minnesota.

We will be working with the Yellow Ribbon 34th Infantry support group to send homemade or bakery purchased cookies to the 34th every month to show our support and gratitude for their service and sacrifice. All cookies will be transported by car to Bloomington, Minnesota, for transfer to the Yellow Ribbon support group. The Yellow Ribbon provides monthly support packages to the unit, which will include all cookies donated to the unit.

There is a La Valle connection to the 34th Minnesota Infantry. In 2009, Paul Vaillancourt of La Valle was stationed at Basra, Iraq, with the 34th as a joint Minnesota - Wisconsin National Guard deployment.
